Honda Unicorn Suspension and Brakes

The Honda Unicorn’s mechanics are based on the Unicorn 150 model. It has a basic telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the back for a smooth ride. The Unicorn BS6 model has one version available, equipped with a 240mm front disc brake and a 130mm rear drum brake. It also comes with single-channel ABS as a standard feature.

Honda Unicorn Features

The Honda Unicorn embraces simplicity with its basic DC bulb headlight and straightforward dashboard. The dashboard features essential instruments including a centrally positioned speedometer for monitoring current speed, an odometer for tracking total distance traveled, and on the left side, a tachometer for RPM monitoring and a fuel gauge for keeping tabs on fuel levels. Positioned on the right side are indicator lights for various functions and warnings, aiding riders in staying informed about the bike’s status. While lacking in fancy features, the Honda Unicorn prioritizes functionality, reliability, and practicality, making it a popular choice for riders seeking a no-frills commuting or leisure riding experience.

Honda Unicorn Engine Specifications

Honda’s decision to reintroduce the 162.7cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine in the Unicorn signifies a strategic move aimed at maintaining consistency and reliability while enhancing performance. Despite retaining the same displacement as its predecessor, this upgraded engine boasts improved torque figures, now producing 14Nm compared to the previous 150cc engine’s 12.8Nm. This enhancement in torque promises a more responsive and spirited ride, particularly during low to mid-range RPMs, translating to better acceleration and overall ride dynamics.

Moreover, the power output remains consistent at 12.9PS, indicating that Honda has optimized the engine’s performance without sacrificing its efficiency or reliability. The decision to retain the five-speed transmission underscores Honda’s confidence in the existing gearbox’s ability to efficiently handle the power delivery of the upgraded engine, ensuring seamless shifting and enhanced ride control.

By incorporating these enhancements while maintaining the core attributes that have made the Unicorn a popular choice among riders, Honda aims to deliver a compelling blend of power, performance, and reliability, further solidifying its position in the competitive commuter motorcycle segment.
