How to Choose the Right Hijama Cups
Glass, silicone or plastic? A practitioner's guide to picking the right cups for your clinic.

As a Hijama practitioner, your cups are your most vital tools. Choosing the right material and size can significantly impact the effectiveness of your treatment and the comfort of your client.
Plastic Cups
Medical-grade plastic cups are the industry standard for wet cupping. Because wet cupping involves the release of bodily fluids, disposable plastic cups guarantee absolute hygiene and eliminate the risk of cross-contamination. They are lightweight, affordable, and compatible with standard manual suction pumps.
Glass Cups
Glass cups are traditionally used for fire cupping (dry cupping). They are heavy, retain heat well, and glide smoothly over oiled skin for massage cupping. However, they must be meticulously sterilized between clients using an autoclave, making them unsuitable for wet cupping in most modern clinical settings.
Silicone Cups
Silicone cups are pliable and excellent for facial cupping or moving cupping (massage). They don't require a pump, as the suction is created by squeezing the cup. They are generally only used for dry cupping and aesthetic treatments.
Recommendation: For wet cupping clinics, always stock up on bulk disposable plastic cups in various sizes (especially Sizes 2, 3, and 4) to ensure safety and compliance.
